Why we invested

AV Ventures invested in AFC to support the growth of a strategic agricultural lender playing a critical role in financing smallholder farmers and agribusinesses in Kenya. AFC focuses on providing long-term and seasonal credit to agricultural value chains that are underserved by commercial banks, supporting food security, rural livelihoods, and productive asset formation. Through this investment, the INK Fund aimed to strengthen AFC’s lending capacity, improve access to affordable agricultural finance, and enable wider outreach to farmers and agri-SMEs. The investment aligns with INK Fund’s mandate to deploy capital into institutions that combine development impact with sustainable financial performance, particularly in sectors central to inclusive economic growth.
